Crossbones

about

This is a song about the Crossbones Burial Ground on Redcross Way in Borough near London Bridge. It honours the outcast dead buried there for hundreds of years on unconsecrated ground. I perform this song at rituals on the site periodically.

Hi Phil

I hope all is well with you and yours.
I sent you the mastered track, Crossbones, over the weekend which we discussed having as the July 21 Release.
It is written, performed, recorded and mixed by myself and mastered by Ian Carter

It is a song about a medieval burial ground for the outcast dead just behind Borough High Street in Southwark.

Crossbones, don't you like them
Crossbones, they are just like you
Lie with them, see how it feels down there
Maybe then, you would understand

They are together with the earth
They lived and died in dust and dirt
Some sleepers shouldn't be disturbed

Crossbones, all mixed up in this place
Crossbones, progress has an ugly face
And when you die, they'll dig to find out where you lie
Your bones will cry; just like them you'll understand

They are together with the earth
They lived and died in dust and dirt
Some sleepers shouldn't be disturbed

Soon your life will lose seasons and you'll fall back down to earth
Too soon you'll find someone like you; whose happy to disturb
